Special Events for Children: Host events at churches, such as holiday parties or movie nights, to engage and entertain the children.

How can educators contribute?

Academic tutoring: Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to help children catch up on academics, focusing on areas where they struggle. 

 

Life skills development: Teach practical life skills like cooking, budgeting, personal hygiene, and social etiquette that might not be readily available in a children's home environment. 

 

Creative activities: Lead art, music, drama, or other creative activities to promote self-expression and emotional well-being. 

 

Reading programs: Organize regular reading sessions, book clubs, or reading incentives to encourage literacy development. 

 

Field trips and community engagement:

Plan educational field trips and connect children with community resources to broaden their experiences.

Build positive relationships with children by offering individual attention, listening to their concerns, and providing emotional support. 

 

Professional development workshops:

Conduct workshops for staff at the children's home on child development, trauma-informed care, or specific learning strategies. ​
